Lenovo A7000 review

Lenovo had a resurgence of sorts in the second half of 2014, with its Vibe X2 and X2 Pro emerging as tough contenders in their respective segments. This was followed by the low-cost A6000, which was an instant hit.

At the Mobile World Congress, Lenovo introduced its A7000 budget phablet, which left us visibly impressed due to its display, smooth user interface, and front camera. We review the Lenovo A7000 phablet to see if it will lead the charge for the company in the sub-Rs 10,000, or if it will falter against rivals like Micromax YU Yureka, Huawei Honor 4X, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G.

Design
Lenovo A7000 looks like an oversized A6000 (or A6000 Plus for that matter), and does not boast of much in terms of design flair. The phablet's body is dominated by plastic, with only the power and volume buttons being made of metal. The matte finish plastic on the back of the smartphone gets easily smudged.

You can notice the flat back, slightly curved edges and rounded edges of the device, which make it easy to hold in the hand. Though it is rather wide at 76.2mm, Lenovo A7000 is surprisingly light at 140 grams. The bezels above and below the display are not too wide compared to other handsets in the same segment, while those on the sides are pretty thin.
Lenovo A7000 features a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display, is 7.9mm thick and weighs 140gm. The smartphone runs on a 1.5GHz MediaTek octa-core processor. It has an 8MP autofocus camera on the back and a 5MP front-facing camera.
